As I sit in my room, surrounded by the sweet scent of vegetables from last night's dinner and the distant hum of Chinese noodles being cooked downstairs, I am reminded of all the moments that have shaped my identity. Like the time Mom took me on a car ride in our Toyota Sequoia, blasting 'Think of Me' from The Phantom of the Opera and competing with her to hit the high note. Or when my brother and I laughed hysterically while singing 'The Worst Pies in London' at a Korean karaoke club, his spot-on rendition of Sweeney Todd sending us both into fits.

These memories may seem insignificant on their own, but they are all connected by one thread: my sense of self. Like the time I listened to 'Cell Block Tango' with my grandparents while enjoying filet mignon at a dine-in show in Ashland, or when I'd soak in overflowing bubble baths with Andrew Lloyd Webber's music blasting from the boombox.

But it was another memory that would haunt me for years to come. A memory of Joseph saying something cruel and mean-spirited about my appearance, his words etching themselves into my mind like a scar. Every time I looked in the mirror, I'd question my reflection, wondering what I had done to deserve such cruelty.

It was shaped by all of these memories, each one a piece of the puzzle that makes me who I am today. And as I grew older, I learned to use my five senses to record and reflect on my experiences.

This essay is a collection of those memories, woven together like exhibits in a museum. Each one showcases a different part of my identity, from my love of music and food to my struggles with self-acceptance. It's a montage of moments that have shaped me into the person I am today, and it's a testament to the power of our senses to guide us on our journey of self-discovery.
